Living in Waycross is like a step back in the past

I moved to Waycross in 2009 til 2019. Moving from Stone Mountain to the outskirts of Waycross (Brantley County) was the most deplorable experiences of my life. It was like I stepped in into a time portal and traveled to 1950. The place has nothing to give as far as growth of anything. It’s a vortex that sucks the life out of people. The jobs are a joke. It’s not what you know it’s who you know as far as that goes. You have to wait for someone to die or retire to even get considered for decent employment opportunity. Then the wave of said job is barely livable for one person. The properties to rent are a joke as the landlords feel as though they are sitting on a goldmine and that they over price the rent to supplement their low income they receive from their social security/retirement. When I did move from the outskirts to the actual city that was even worse. The city rent on houses or apartments were outrageous as the landlords gaged their prices on cities with better amenities and more to offer residents so they felt they were entitled to $1000 or more for a place that was clearly in the low $500 range. That’s pushing it for low $500 honestly. My recommendation for anyone considering relocating to Waycross is to do your research of where you plan on staying because mostly like you will be living next to a registered sex offender as their is one particular area that tends to be a “dumping” ground for them once they come out of the prison system there. Just over all don’t move there unless you have a strong support system cause their is no assistance of any kind to help anyone to get ahead.
