Its not what you think

The scenery of mesas and mountains are epic. The rest of Rangely is a cult. There’s nothing to do for the kids. They don’t have an obgyn for women. They don’t have a Walmart, even a basic grocery store. The grocery store they do have is way overpriced and has an extremely poor selection. I wish the town was incorporated. They don’t like you if you aren’t from here. They are far behind the rest of America. It’s sad. It’s a glorified truck stop. There’s a huge meth problem and you might run into cousins who are married. All the stores are closing or closed, the buildings are falling apart.The board members are either related or were the original settlers family members and they keep the town stuck in the 50s. I could go on but you have to see it to believe it.

Rangely is a great place to live, work and play. I moved here almost 3 years ago from the Front Range and my experience in Rangely has been incredible. Rangely is one of the friendliest towns I have ever lived in. The residents truly care about each and are excellent at looking out for one another. The Town is surrounded by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) property and these wide open spaces provide great places for fun. They have a large reservoir 4 miles from town that provides boating, cliff diving and water skiing. The White River meanders around the town and provides fishing and other activities for fun. We love to float the river during the summer months. Just a great lazy river! If you are an OHV/ATV rider and lover, this is definitely the place for you. With regard to the arts, The TANK Center for Sonic Arts is located close to town. Dinosaur National Monument is 22 miles away and many petroglyphs and pictographs are located close to town for exploring. Rangely is a hidden gem. If you are looking for low cost of living, quiet, peaceful, dark skies for stargazing and loads of fun without the traffic…then Rangely is the perfect place! Worth checking out!
