Lived it 2013

I lived there 10 months 2013. My. experience was the people are mostly between 48 & 70 years old as about 10 to 12k of the 19k people are college students, so when college is out & the kids leave & the actual town is mostly seniors. If you dont understand people from the Midwest you may not like this town. I was born & raised in Indiana & I saw many many of the same type of personalities there as in Indiana. There are alot of little costs associated with living there which I didnt think made it particularly a super cheap place to live. They do have a large poverty % there. They are a clan like group of people who gossip about everyone. It was difficult to get set there quickly because of their clannish behavior but it is possible. They didn’t appear to like “Northerners”. Overall my experience would have been more positive had I just moved there alone. Join a church & things will go easier. It is a very conservative group of people. Their minds are pretty closed. If you have had a life in a large city like Calif & then move there it will feel extremely backwards, clannish, unfriendly & weird, but hang in there as it just takes them a bit longer to warm up to newcomers. Do not gossip about anyone ever. They are all interconnected. Overall a nice clean place without much going on.
